Search Issues in Slideworld

Slides Blog
I understand the plight of Google needing to make the search results relevant to what the user may be looking for. But instead of searching for an airbag why can’t a person search for the specific airbag?

Why don’t search engines provide a way to search by title, author, or institute? Slideworld is always experimenting with new features aimed at improving the search experience. Take one for a spin and let us know what you think.
  • author:If you start a query with [author:], slideworld will restrict the results to only for particular author. For instance, author: Keith Kaplan will return only Presentations uploaded by "Keith Kaplan".
  • institute :If you start a query with [institute:], slideworld will restrict the results to only for particular University. For instance, institute: Mayo Clinic will return only Presentations uploaded by Mayo Clinic authorities.
  • inurl :If you include [inurl:] in your query, slideworld will restrict the results to those websites in the given domain. For instance, inurl::domain will find pages within domain.Note there can be no space between the "inurl:" and the domain.
  • intitle :If you include [intitle:] in your query, slideworld will restrict the results to documents containing that word in the title. For instance, intitle:pathology will return documents that mention the word "pathology" in their title. Note there can be no space between the "intitle:" and the following word.
You can reshuffle your results by no of downloads Posted Date, Author name ,rated. You can rate your favorite presentation and it will go up in search results.
  • Quoted Phrases
A query with terms in quotes finds pages containing the exact quoted phrase. For example, “Interventional cardiology“  finds presentation containing the phrase “Interventional cardiology” exactly.

Neuropathology Blog

Slides Blog
The only blog on the web devoted to clinical neuropathology -- including nervous system tumors, neuroanatomy, neurodegenerative disease, muscle and nerve disorders, ophthalmologic pathology, neuro trivia, neuropathology gossip, new treatments and technologies in neurology and neurosurgery, etc. Since neuropathologists are often medical school teachers also, medical education and the new technologies impacting medical education are also occasionally addressed.

Malpractice

I think there should be a proper education on legal issues incorporated in the residency training program since it is so important during clinical practice. Presentation in the Legal category are helpful. It would be very insightful if physicians could share some of their malpractice issues or lessons learned during practice. For Example: One cardiologist was asked to evaluate his neighbor who apparently was having a heart attack and he decided to take him to ER in his car. Patient died on his way to the hospital and he was sued for not calling EMS who could have probably resuscitated him in the ambulance.

I think there should be a category for research where one could submit a presentation on the study that they have recently published or presented at a national meeting. Since not everyone is getting all the journals and graphs and tables are not in color in journals.

I think this is a great idea and worth exploring !!. This could really change the quality of our presentation and would certainly save lot of physician hours of work preparing presentation.
