Childhood headache
Headache has been a common malady since the infancy of time. The stress and the day to day hectic schedule have headache and trauma as their byproducts. About 4.4% of adults go for consultations in primary care and 30% for neurology outpatient consultations. This definitely wouldn’t come as a surprise as in today’s world of pace and agility, the rat race of money and fame can bring nothing better than pain and tension. But headaches in children is a different matter altogether.
Kids at a very tender age begin complaining about headaches. An alarming number of migraine and trauma cases have been reported in recent past. It seems that life has become too fast for the kids to catch up.
The potential harm that headache can bring to children should not be taken lightly. The lighter it seems, the dangerous it is. The head maladies can be chronic and usually recurring and thus interfere in the day to day activities of the kids. And surely enough, they can’t afford to be down with headache in the contemporary age of hard-core competition. Headaches account for children missing one million school days per year.
31% of children report headaches by age six and 75% report headaches by age 15. Twenty-six percent of children ages seven to 16 years report having at least one headache per month. Motion sickness is observed in almost half of children with migraines. Other associated conditions include asthma or eczema.
