Slide 1 : Infective Endocarditis Dr: Lubna Satti
Slide 2 : Definition:- Infection of endocardial surface of the heart,which may include heart valves, the mural endocardium ,may cause severe valvular insufficency, which may lead to intractable CHF and myocardial abscess.
Slide 3 : Classification:- Acute: occurs in normal valve, takes acute course, presents with acute heart failure. Sub acute: occurs in abnormal or diseased valve, takes gradual course.
Slide 4 : Case scenario:- 20 years old drug abuser male presented with fever, malaise, shortness of breath on daily activities, anorexia and loss of weight. What other symptoms you should ask for? On examination:- He looked ill, dyspnoeic, febrile and pale, his pulse was 100/min,BP100/60,he had signs of multiple valves lesions. What other signs you should look for?
