Slide 3 : MRI. Axial T2-W (a), T1-W unenhanced (b), T1-W arterial phase (c), and T1-W venous phase (d) images at the same level show a 2-cm nodule (arrow) in segment 7 of the liver. The lesion is hyperintense on the T2-W image with the central portion being of higher signal than the periphery. On the unenhanced T1-W image the lesion is isointense centrally with a hypointense periphery. Following ntravenous gadolinium administration the central portion of the lesion enhances during the arterial phase while the hypointense rim does not enhance. During the venous phase the diameter of the enhancing central portion slightly increases while the rim becomes less obvious
