1 : MUTATION - SHIBA BMS 2nd yr. 2009428 1
2 : Sudden stable inheritable/transmissible discontinuous variations which appear in organism due to changes in genomic sequences OR Simply alteration in nucleotide sequence of a DNA molecule. What r mutations? 2
3 : Changes can be: - In DNA sequence of a cell’s genome - In DNA or RNA sequence of a virus Mutations are called fountain head of evolution . Without mutation all genes would exist in only one form, alleles would not exist. Caused by radiations, viruses, transposons and mutagenic chemicals as well as errors that occur during replication. 3

10 : History Evolution (also known as biological, genetic or organic evolution) is the change in the inherited traits of a population of organisms through successive generations. This change results from interactions between processes that introduce variation into a population, and other processes that remove it. As a result, variants with particular traits become more, or less, common. A trait is a particular characteristic—anatomical, biochemical or behavioural—that is the result of gene–environment interaction. 10
